Edward Klein, a resident of Gainesville, has
been performing professionally for more than forty years on the
cello and viola da gamba in orchestras and chamber ensembles, and as a
solo recitalist. At 16, he was the youngest student ever accepted into
the adult Orchestra and Chamber Music Program at
Tanglewood,
where he studied for two summers. Before that, he studied
at the
Greenwood Music Camp in Cummington, Mass.
He served on the Boards of Trustees at the
Kinhaven Music School in Weston, Vt., and
the Skylands Youth Symphony in Sussex County, N.J.,
where he was also the music director and conductor.
Edward received his early musical training in the Boston
area with cellist Jacobus Langendoen of the Boston Symphony Orchestra;
he later studied with concert artist Zara Nelsova. He graduated from Swarthmore College.
Edward served in the U.S. Navy as a member of the
Naval Academy Band playing cello, oboe, baritone horn, piano,
and string bass. He performed for Pope John Paul II at the Vatican
in 1990 and performed as a soloist in the Rutter Requiem at Carnegie
Hall under the baton of the composer, John Rutter. He currently performs throughout North Central Florida and south Georgia as principal
in the
Central
Florida Symphony the Central Florida Philharmonic
orchestras, and also performs with the Gainesville Chamber Orchestra and the Albany, Ga., Symphony Orchestra. Besides teaching in his own studio, he also serves as an adjunct cello instructor at Central
Florida Community College in Ocala.
Adrienne deNoyelles was the assistant principal cellist in the
Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra for five years, performing with
the orchestra at Carnegie Hall in New York under the direction of
John Rutter in 1989. She also performed in the Florida All-State orchestra. After graduating from the University of
Florida in 1996, Adrienne performed with several groups in Central Florida (The Hawthorne Orchestra and The Olde Noyse, a
quartet featuring baroque-style instruments). Adrienne currently shares the first stand with Edward Klein in the Central Florida Symphony,
the Central Florida Philharmonic, and the Albany Symphony orchestras. She currently teaches aspiring
beginner to intermediate cellists using a blend of traditional and Suzuki techniques.
Both Adrienne and Edward were featured in "The Debbie Reynolds Show"
when the legendary singer performed with the Albany Symphony in spring of 2002.
